Book blurb - Alice in wonderland

Geronimo Stilton Classic Tales: Alice in Wonderland : Geronimo ...
I have completed this book and right now I am reading Tom Gates. I really enjoyed this book because it was about a girl named Alice going on adventures and then when she got in real trouble she woke up and realised it was just a dream.

Report writing - students get vaccinated and immunised!

Students get vaccinated and immunised!

On the 9th of June 2020 St Pius X Catholic School finally had their year 7 and 8 students vaccinated and immunised. Year 7 students say it felt like a little pinch while year 8 students are in pain.

After lockdown 4 weeks into school and they have finally got their vaccinations/immunisations. The year 7 students got the immunisation but the year 8 students got vaccinated from viruses that can give you cancer.

It is important for you to get vaccinated/immunised if your year 7 or 8, especially during the winter season. So if you haven’t already I suggest you go down to the nearest doctor and get it over with.

Saving Energy in our homes - Science

Electricity and energy saving icon | free image by rawpixel.com ...
In science, we learnt about saving energy in our homes. One way you could save energy is by using bikes instead of cars. You can use a bus instead because there will be less vehicles on the road. We also learnt about different types of light bulbs. We learnt about the incandescent, CFL and LED lights. LED lights last the longest and can also change colours. CFL lights last longer than incandescent lights and can turn white. Last but not least incandescent lights, incandescent lights use the most energy so I suggest using LED lights because it lasts longer, looks better and doesn't use too much energy.

Earthworms - Science

Earthworms – Te Ara Encyclopedia of New Zealand
In technology today I learnt about earthworms. Earthworms are very good for your garden because they dig holes through the ground and they let air and water into the soil which helps the plants grow. So if you find earthworms just leave them because its good for your garden.

Lockdown report

Students glued to the floor for half an hour!

Christopher, TWP reporter.

On the 18th of June 2020 St Pius X Catholic school finally had a lockdown drill. While in lockdown students were as quiet as mice.

Lockdown is a drill your school uses when there is danger outside. Schools can go into lockdown from things such as dogs, swarms of bees and people trespassing through your school. While in lockdown the best thing to do is lie down on your stomach.

The instructor they had was Julia. Julia went to schools around New Zealand and taught them what to do in lockdown. You will be alarmed when the bell rings and stops for 1 minute. So if your school bell rings and stops for 1 minute, run to the nearest building in your school grounds because danger could be lurking in your school.

Kiwisport is finally back

Kiwisport is finally back!

On the 8th of June 2020 Kiwisport finally came back for St Pius X Catholic School. For Kiwisport they have volleyball. On Monday volleyballs were flying everywhere.

After four weeks of no exercise kiwisport had finally come back. The coach they have is Elena. For the first session they learnt how to set. One of the phrases they learnt was bend and extend. Setting is a skill you use to set to the spiker, get the ball over the net and when the ball is coming high.

Just to check they actually learnt something Elena set up a few games of elimination volley but setting only. The winning team only had one player left so it was a close game. Volleyball is a fun game so if you want to play it I suggest you start practising.

Science || Technology

I learnt that there are different types of plastic. Which are biodegradeble plastic, reusable plastic and single use plastic. Biodegradable plastic is like when you throw it on the floor it will be planted into the floor. Reusable plastic is when you can use it more than once. Single use plastic is when you use it once and you can't use it anymore.
