This is my reflection for term 3. I created a DLO to tell people what subject I did the best this term.
I am a Year 8 student at Saint Pius X School in Auckland, NZ. I am in the Te Wairua Pakiki Learning Space and my teachers are Mr Gaffney, Ms Nees-Kairua and Mrs Tui.

The missing package
I found a strange package by the door, as I returned from my walk. Then I realized the package didn’t have a name on it. I curiously picked up the package and entered my house.
I placed the package on the floor and searched for a name. They didn’t leave any traces behind. I marched back and forth through the house thinking ‘what should I do.’
I got contacted by my family in Australia and I told them about the package. They impatiently shout at me to open the package. I anxiously dashed to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and I tore the package open when… POW, a boxing glove flew out of the box and pummeled me in the face.
They howled laughing at me when they told me they sent the package. I was so infuriated, I hung up.

Technology - Pewter casting
At technology, we are making pendants out of pewter. This is the design I'm making for my little sister because she always says I want a dog, I want a dog, so I am going to make it come true.

Book review - I survived Titanic
This book is about a boy who went on vacation with his aunt and sister on the titanic. He was constantly getting in-trouble but one night he went out to explore and he noticed that it was freezing cold and that his sister went missing. Him and his aunt went out to look for her they went on the lower part and there was water everywhere they found her and quickly went back up. They noticed there was a lot of lifeboats going down with only women and children. He was taken off the boat and the titanic started sinking. He was saved by his friend and was later taken to the hospital.
Me and my friend Nasili thinks that if you're over the age of 10 then you should read it because there aren't many complicated words and it is really interesting.

Book review
Book Review
Title : Guts Author: Raina Telgemeier Date: 4 September
What was the book about? It is about a girl named Raina who had stomach problems, she also had problems with classmates. She was always paranoid of what she was eating. She was afraid of puke and even the word puke but at the end of the story she became friends with her bully and overcame her fear of puke. |
What 3 things did you like about the book? Explain why
| What 3 things didn’t you like about the book? Explain why. I liked everything about the book. |
What is your favourite part? My favourite part of book was when Raina became friends with her bully. | Who would you recommend the book to and why? I would recommend this book to year 7 & 8 students. It is a funny book but also something that you could probably relate to. |
Education has changed
Education has changed dramatically because of COVID-19. Many people enjoy learning virtually from home but others proclaim that learning physically at school is better. I, personally, was infuriated when I discovered the news about Auckland going into lockdown. In my head I was thinking “THIS IS A NIGHTMARE!” and it was.
If you think learning virtually at home is a nightmare if you were in my situation you would think it's hell because if your device is broken, asking your siblings for their devices would be difficult especially if they are “busy.” I enjoyed having a flexible timetable at home, but joining 3 calls a day was tiring especially if you had to beg your siblings for their device. At school we have a rigid timetable meaning we stick to the timetable like glue but that's better than having 3 calls a day.
Anyways, I believe that going to school physically is better than doing school virtually from home.
